PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a mold transporting vehicle and a mold transporting method capable of reducing a clearance on both sides of a mold arranged by switching a steering gear of the mold transporting vehicle to a steering regulating mechanism to enable rectilinear running of the steering wheels, wherein the number of the mold to be stored is increased and space can be effectively utilized. SOLUTION: The mold transporting vehicle has an upper frame 2 with a front side lifter 17 and a rear side lifter 18 for lifting the mold, a lower frame 2 opposed to the upper frame and provided at a lower part, steering wheels 8L8R, 9L9R, at front, rear, left and right, arranged at the lower frame 3, the steering gear 48 for steering the steering wheels, and transports the mold arranged in a storage place in a plant with the clearance on both sides, to the indoor side of the plant. The steering gear 48 is switched into the steering regulating mechanism 48a applying no horizontal rotation to the steering wheels or a steering mechanism 48b applying the horizontal rotation to the steering wheels. The steering wheels rectilinearly run in a fore and aft direction in the clearance on both sides of the mold arranged by switching the steering gear to the steering regulating mechanism.
