PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of estimating overprinted colors with a specified color, using the exposure values of the ground color and primary/secondary/tertiary/quaternary CMYK colors of a dot image outputted from a calibrating color printer, and an exposure-color specification system table which relates the exposure value to the values of output colors in a color specification system. SOLUTION: The spectral densities of the ground color of a printing paper, basic color unit colors and a special color are measured to form spectral density basic data 32. An acquiring means 311 acquires the values of L*, a*, b* corresponding to set values of the exposure values of the ground color and primary/secondary/tertiary/quaternary CMYK colors from an exposure value-L*a*b* table 35. A spectral density calculating means 312 calculates the spectral densities corresponding to the acquired values of L*, a*, b*, based on the spectral densities of the ground color and the basic colors of the basic data 32. A spectral density estimating means 313 calculates the estimates of the spectral densities of the primary/secondary/tertiary/quaternary CMYK colors overprinted with the special color, using the calculated spectral densities and the spectral density of the special color.
