PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To increase a speed of selecting motion and to shorten a gear shifting time. SOLUTION: A striker 6 is axially movably and relatively unrotatably fitted to an outer periphery of a shift shaft 4 rotatably supported in a housing 2. A ball screw 32 mounted in parallel with the shift shaft 4 is axially movably supported, and axially moved by a ball nut 22 rotated by the driving of a select motor 16. A projection 6b of the striker 6 is engaged with a groove 34b of an engagement member 34 connected with the ball screw 32, and the engagement member 34 and the striker 6 are moved in the axial direction of the shift shaft 4 by the axial movement of the ball screw 32 to perform the select motion. A tip 32c of the ball screw 32 is inserted into a damper chamber 35 connected in a chamber of a transmission 21 through an orifice 35a to inhibit the axial movement. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
