PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To solve the problem that image quality is deteriorated because a droplet, deviating from a medium to be recorded, adheres to a platen and stains it, when marginless recording is performed by providing a supporting member, supporting the medium to be recorded, around the rotating platen. SOLUTION: This image forming apparatus is equipped with the platen 27 wherein a plurality of medium-to-be-recorded supporting parts 51 for supporting the backside of paper 5 are mounted on a rotating shaft 52 via an arm part 53 at required intervals, and a guide rail 28 which supports the rotating shaft 52 of the platen 27 and which movably supports the platen 27, so that the rotating shaft 52 of the platen 27 can be moved to a position not to interfere with an ink droplet 11a ejected from a recording head 11 and so that the platen 27 can be prevented from being stained because the ink droplet 11a deviating from the paper 5 adheres to the platen 27 when the marginless recording is done.
