PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To simplify a guide structure of a moving spindle stock in a two-spindle opposed lathe comprising two opposing spindles and cutter holders arranged on the front side and the rear side sandwiching the axis by guiding the moving spindle stock and the cutter holders by a same Z-axis guide; to solve the problem that adopting this structure increases working errors caused by thermal deformation of the moving spindle stock, makes correction of the errors difficult, and decreases stiffness of the moving spindle stock. SOLUTION: The two-spindle opposed lathe comprises the two spindles opposing on the axis of the spindles in the horizontal direction and the cutter holders 10, 16 arranged on the front side and the rear side of the spindles. The spindle stock 4 of the moving spindle moving to the Z-axis direction is guided by the Z-axis guide 14 of the cutter holder 16 so as to be mounted, and a reference guide surface 28 in the X-axis direction of the Z-axis guide is provided downward in the Y-axis direction of the axis.
