The invention relates to a method for producing a metal foam body, whereby a molten metal is prepared and introduced into a reservoir (1), and said molten metal (2) is injected into a mould cavity (3) surrounded by a mould, via a line (2) connecting the reservoir (1) to the mould. The aim of the invention is to create a foam structure only in the core of the metal foam body. To this end, a blowing agent is added to the metal melt, once it has left the reservoir (1) and before it enters the mould cavity (3).
