<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an antireflection film having sophisticated appearance and texture giving favorable impression and superior antistatic characteristics and scratch resistance, and to provide a polarizing plate and an image display apparatus which uses the film. <P>SOLUTION: The antireflection film has a hard coat layer and a low refractive index layer on at least one surface of a transparent support body, having a rough surface with 0.05 to 5 μm average surface roughness Ra. The refractive index of the hard coat layer is higher by ≥0.05 than the refractive index of the transparent support body, and the film thickness of the hard coat layer is 1 to 20 μm and 2 to 20 times as the average surface roughness Ra of the support body.
