PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a magnetic field generator improving a field strength of a magnetic field generation space. SOLUTION: This magnetic field generator 10 is provided with a pair of magnetic pole units 12a and 12b oppositely disposed to form the magnetic field generation space 24 and a main yoke 26 magnetically connecting the pair of magnetic pole units 12a and 12b. The magnetic pole unit 12a includes a main magnet 14a, a magnetic pole piece 22a provided in the magnetic field generation space side of a main magnet 14a, a ferromagnet 20a provided between the main magnet 14a and the magnetic pole piece 22a, a sub magnet 16a for preventing leakage of a magnetic flux provided on the side of the ferromagnet 20a, and the sub yoke 18a provided on the outside face of the sub magnet 16a. The ferromagnet sides of the main magnet 14a and the sub magnet 16a have the same pole and the magnetizing direction of the sub magnet 16a is so set as to incline toward the main surface of the ferromagnet 20a.
