PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fitting cap for a glass substrate capable of suppressing the bending and twisting of the glass substrate when the glass substrate is held, and facilitating the insertion or removal into or from a box for carrying the glass substrate. SOLUTION: The fitting cap C for the glass substrate molded with a rigid body with a recessed part with an approximately U-shaped crosssection has a constitution that the recessed part formed in the cap C can freely be inserted and removed over approximately the whole region of the upper end of the glass substrate G, and the inner face of the recessed part brought into contact with the glass substrate G is covered with a flexible material 72. Since it is possible thereby to suppress the bending and twisting of the glass substrate G when the glass substrate G is held by a suction implement or the like, insertion into or removal from the box body is easily performed, and there exists a reinforcing action for the glass substrate G when it is placed in the box body and is carried.
