PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a miniature, high output, long life, and inexpensive solid state laser apparatus. SOLUTION: Excitation light 14a from an excitation lamp 14 disposed on the other focal line side of a focusing reflecting surface having the two focal lines inside is focused and excited on a solid state laser medium 13 disposed on one focal line side using the focusing reflecting surface. Laser light 20 from the solid state laser medium 13 by the excitation is made to resonate between an output mirror 19 and a rear mirror 18 disposed on the opposite sides of the solid state laser medium 13, and is made to emit from the output mirror 19. Thereupon, the excitation light 14a is focused for excitation on the solid state laser medium 13 with a focusing diameter dA smaller than an outer diameter dY of the laser medium to emit the laser light 20.
