PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To lead cold air into a shelf duct without hindrance in a showcase wherein the upper end of a cooler is positioned above a shelf. SOLUTION: The showcase 1 is constituted to lay shelves 24 for merchandise display in a display chamber 7 opened to a front face, to form the shelf duct 26 at each shelf 24, and to lead cold air rising in a cold air duct 6 formed behind the display chamber 7, into the shelf duct 26 so as to be dischargeable into the display chamber 7 below the shelf. The showcase 1 is provided with the cooler 13 disposed in the cold air duct 6 so that the upper end is positioned above the shelf duct 26; a communicating passage 29 for communicating the cold air duct 6 above the cooler 13 with the shelf duct 26; and a damper 33 provided above the cooler 13 to open/close the cold air duct 6.
