PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for producing a boron-modified resol type phenol resin capable of being produced at a relatively low temperature, e.g. at an approximately room temperature, and also excellent in heat resistance and flame retardance, and a composition of the same. SOLUTION: This method for producing the boron-modified resol type phenol resin is provided by dissolving (A) a resol type phenol resin and (B) a boric acid-based compound, and then performing the reaction of them in an organic solvent (C) which does not dissolve the reaction product of the (A) and (B) at a low temperature. The resin composition containing the boron-modified resol type phenol resin and (D) an organic solvent dissolving the resin is also provided. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
