There are provided a telephone interpretation system and a telephone interpretation method capable of performing rapid and accurate interpretation without preventing a speech of speaker or grasp of interpreted content by a partner even if an interpreter performs simultaneous interpretation during a speech of a caller or a call destination. The telephone interpretation system (100) receives a call from a caller terminal (10) by a control device (110), references an interpreter registration table (112) to extract a terminal number of an interpreter capable of performing interpretation between a language of a caller and a language of a call destination, and connects the caller terminal (10), a call destination terminal (20), and an interpreter terminal (30). Moreover, the system has a function for performing audio communication required for interpretation between the terminals. The audio of the interpreter is transmitted to the caller or the call destination by an audio switch (168) as is specified by the interpreter terminal and the audio of the conversation partner is suppressed or cut off when the interpreter audio is detected in audio synthesis devices (124, 144), thereby providing a rapid and appropriate interpretation service. |
