<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To enable fast data transfers by making effective use of an access mode which a CF card has. <P>SOLUTION: A control signal converting part 56 is provided between an address decoder 50 and a bus switch 54 and an nCE-nCS switching circuit 57 is provided inside the address decoder 50. Depending on a mode switch signal 58 coming from a CPU 10, the control signal converting part 56 converts an output enable signal nOE38, a write enable signal nWE40, and a register select signal nREG42 among the output signals of the address decoder 50 into predetermined signals for transmission to the bus switch 54. Depending on the mode switch signal 58 from the CPU 10, the nCE-nCS switching circuit 57 transmits a card enable signal nCE[2:1] or a chip select signal nCS [1:0] to the bus switch 54.
