<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a gas sensor and a manufacturing method for suppressing defective connection in a boundary face between a recess part inside face of a ceramic holder and a sealant for obtaining a good hermetic condition. <P>SOLUTION: An oxygen sensor is provided with a ceramic holder 14 having a recess part 11 and a through-hole 12 formed in the bottom part 11b of the recess part 11 and a plate type oxygen sensor element 15 inserted in the recess part 11 and the through-hole 12. A gap between the oxygen sensor element 15 and the recess part 11 is filled with the sealant 16. The ceramic holder 14 is constructed so that surface roughness of the inner circumference face 11a of the recess part 11 is 0.3 μm or more and that of the bottom part 11b in the recess part 11 is higher than that of the inner circumference face 11a. The surface roughness of the inner circumference face 11a and the bottom part 11b is adjusted by rough surface machining on the metal die surface used for molding the ceramic holder 14 or by a blasting method. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI |
