<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method and an apparatus for perforating rod like products (2, 2', 2'', 2''') in the tobacco processing industry. <P>SOLUTION: The apparatus comprises a device holding the products (2, 2', 2'', 2''') on the peripheral surface of a drum (6) and conveying the products (2, 2', 2'', 2''') in lateral direction by using the drum (6) rotating around a rotating axis (4), a feeding device feeding at least one high energy ray of light (10a, 10b) suitable for perforating the products (2, 2', 2'', 2'''), a device directing the ray of light (10a, 10b) to the outside from the rotating axis (4) in the radial direction, a device deflecting the ray of light (10a, 10b) to the direction extending nearly parallel to the outside of the drum at the outside of the drum, and a device deflecting the ray of light (10a, 10b) at the peripheral surface of the drum to the direction extending in the rectangular direction to the drum to perforate the products (2, 2', 2'', 2'''). <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI</p> |
