PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for correcting smear of a CCD solid state image sensor in which overcorrection can be relaxed when a large smear is detected by suppressing horizontal noise of a smear signal extracted from a smear detection line and regulating the gain of the smear signal appropriately, and to provide an electronic apparatus comprising a CCD solid imaging device employing the smear correction method. SOLUTION: The method for correcting smear of a CCD solid state imaging device comprises first step for lowering the level of a large smear signal extracted from a smear detection line by regulating the gain thereof, and second step for suppressing horizontal noise of the smear signal by detecting the intermediate value of noise sequentially from each specified region of the smear signal in the horizontal direction.
