PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a solid state imaging device excellent in linearity in an optical strength to a signal output and flatness in black does not happen even in a condition that the light strength is weak. SOLUTION: The solid state imaging device comprises an annular gate 102A, a source region 104 formed in the annular gate, a drain region 106 formed so as to cover the outer periphery of the annular gate, and a carrier pocket 108A formed below the annular gate. In the imaging device, such conditions are satisfied that (1) the width of the annular gate is not uniform, and that (2) the place smallest in äa distance between pocket sources}/äa distance between pocket drains} coincides with a place shortest in a distance between source drains (or the gate length L in the annular gate).
