PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To sharply raise the brightness of a display image, by making browning occurring reduced caused by projection of electron rays, and making the transmittance of light improved. SOLUTION: By providing a reflecting film 4R composed of a metallic compound between the fluorescent screen 4C and the inner surface of the face plate 1F of a panel section 1 and projection is made on the screen 4C, many of electron beams 8 transmitted through this fluorescent screen 4C are reflected by this reflecting film 4R, and the quantity of light emission is increased, by light emission by electron beams 8 projected directly to the inner surface of the face plate 1F from the fluorescent screen 4C, and the light emission by electron beams projected again to the monochromatic fluorescent screen 4C by reflection on the reflecting film 4R. By reduction of the rate of projection of the electron beams projected directly, browning which occurs on the face plate 1F reduces, and light transmittance at the face plate 1F improves.
