PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a scanning optical apparatus and an image forming apparatus which can avoid deformation of an optical box due to thermal expansion of the optical box and can obtain a superior images having less curving and tilting of scanning line and less color smear. SOLUTION: A cover and the optical box, or the optical box and a housing, or the cover, the optical box and the housing are respectively jointed together at the substantially central part of the optical box.
