PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a silver salt photothermographic dry imaging material having high sensitivity and low fog, excellent in silver tone and excellent also in light resistance of an image and raw stock preservability and and to provide an image forming method for the same. SOLUTION: In the silver salt photothermographic dry imaging material containing on a support a photosensitive emulsion containing non-photosensitive silver salt of an aliphatic carboxylic acid and a photosensitive silver halide, a silver ion reducing agent and a binder, the photosensitive silver halide is a silver halide whose surface sensitivity is made lower than that before heat development by conversion from a surface latent image type to an internal latent image type in a heat developing process, and the silver salt photothermographic dry imaging material contains at least one of the reducible silver salts represented by the formula (I): M<SP>1</SP>O<SB>2</SB>C-L<SP>1</SP>-CO<SB>2</SB>M<SP>2</SP>.
