PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain fibrous hydroxyapatite used as a medical material, a packing material for columns, etc., a reinforcing material for plastics and rubber, and others by a method simpler than heretofore in a short period of time. SOLUTION: Octacalcium phosphate (OCP) is manufactured from a calcium compound, phosphoric acid compound and urea and in succession the OCP is subjected to heat treatment in the presence of a basic compound and thereby the fibrous hydroxyapatite can be obtained in the form succeeding the shape of the OCP.
