PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an air bag and an air bag device capable of absorbing the shock sufficiently very much even in the condition that the occupant exists near the air bag device. SOLUTION: The air bag 10 has a rear panel 12r furnished with a first vent hole 16 of normally open type and a second vent hole 18 of expansion shape responsive working type to put the inside and outside of the air bag 10 into communication when the air bag 10 is inflated to an irregular shape. At inflation to the normal shape, the vent hole 18 is closed, and gas flows out only from the vent hole 16. If the occupant has plunged into the air bag 10 at the early stage of inflation and the air bag 10 is inflated to an irregular shape, the second vent hole 18 is put in the open condition, and the gas flows out from both vent holes 16 and 18.
