<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a driver recognizing device that can suppress wrong determination and the like, by accurately determining the steering wheel reflection. <P>SOLUTION: When the driver recognition device is adopted for determining inattentive driving, a camera (imaging means) arranged on a steering column or in an instrument panel captures a face image of a driver illuminated with infrared rays by illuminating means (Step S1). A luminance average Yav is computed (Step S5) and is compared with a threshold Yth (Step S7). If the luminance average Yav is higher than the threshold Yth and the image is bright, reflection of the steering wheel near the camera is determined as skipping succeeding inattentive driving determination processing and ends the processing.
