<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a wavelength dispersion measurement method and a device for the same, capable of measuring the wave dispersion over a wide range in an optical transmission line. <P>SOLUTION: The optical transmission line 20 is inputted with intensity-modulated test signal light, the multiplexer 20, the optical filters 34U and 34L separate upper side band (USB) and lower side band (LSB), the variable delay line 40 delays the LSB, and the EA modulator 38 make correlation of the USB and the LSB. The photodiode 50 converts the correlation output into an electrical signal, and the peak detector circuit 52 detects the peak of the output of the photodiode. The timer 54 measures the time, from the start of the variable delay line 40 to the peak detection, by the peak detector circuit 52.
