PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a biological method for removing an organic polymer including a nonionic surfactant or the like. SOLUTION: A method for removing organic polymers comprises a process of cultivating a bacterial strain (Pseudomonas nitroreducens TX1), a process of dispersing the cultivated bacterial strain into environments containing organic polymers, a process of providing a nitrogen source and an inoragnic nutrition salt solution to the environments and a process of degrading the organic polymers by the bacterial strain in the environments. In addition, the viability of cultivated bacterial strain is not affected by endogenous bacteria in soils and can maintain the capacity of degrading organic polymers, thus enabling to remove the organic polymers over a wide range of amounts effectively and making useful bioremediation of contamination from organic polymers in both soils and water.
