DECODING CIRCUIT AND DIGITAL BROADCAST RECEIVER

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a decoding circuit and a digital broadcast receiver properly decoding a transmission TS packet without need for shifting a synchronous byte located at a tail end of the transmission TS packet so as to realize reduction in the manufacturing cost and the power consumption of the entire circuit. SOLUTION: The digital broadcast receiver is characterized by including: a reed solomon decoder 24 for decoding a multiplexed transport stream packet; and an initializing unit 25 for setting the reed Solomon decoder 24 to an initial state before the transport packet is given to the reed solomon decoder 24 on the basis of a value of a head byte of the transport stream packet or a value included between the head byte and an optional byte.
