PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obviate troublesome work of registering reference face data previously for a user for the purpose of retrieving. SOLUTION: From two or more pieces of image data, a piece of image data including the face image of a person is retrieved, and the retrieved piece of image data is displayed. From the displayed piece of image data, face image data for image retrieval is extracted and registered as reference face image data (S105). By designating (S102) an identified piece of the reference face image data in the thus registered pieces of reference face image data, a piece of image data including the piece of reference face image data is retrieved (S103).
