PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a thermal head T and a thermal printer that form a clear image on a recording medium. SOLUTION: The thermal head T has a head substrate 1 having a plurality of heating elements 5 and a conducting layer 6 supplying a driving signal to the heating elements 5 on the top face, a head cover 3 arranged as if to cover a part of the conducting layer 6, one end 3b of which is extended to the vicinity of the heating elements 5, and forms a print on the recording medium by selectively making the plurality of heating elements 5 heat while transferring onto the heating elements 5 on the top face of the head cover 3. The one end 3b side top face of the head cover 3 is tilted in a manner that gradually decreases the inclination with respect to the top face of the head substrate 1 with the approach to the heating elements 5.
