PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording apparatus which can easily inform the user of which of a plurality of ink cartridges comes to an ink end without hurting the appearance. SOLUTION: An ink residual quantity displaying device for displaying information related to a residual quantity of the ink cartridge in a printer equipped with the plurality of ink cartridges has a total ink residual quantity alarming lamp 23c for displaying residual quantity states of the plurality of ink cartridges together, and a sub display part 19 for separately displaying respective residual quantity states of the plurality of ink cartridges. The total ink residual quantity alarming lamp 23c is set at the outside of a cover 15 which constitutes the appearance of the printer and can be freely opened and closed, and the sub display part 19 is set at the inside of the cover 15.
