PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a workpiece drive device for a cylindrical grinding machine in which a workpiece can be easily gripped in work at both centers mainly with a grinding machine and which can eliminate the occurrence of failure at a bearing part caused by grinding dust in a grinding liquid. SOLUTION: An inner ring member 6, to which a gripping claw 9 for gripping a workpiece is mounted, is fitted to a lathe center via a bearing 5 in order to lightly operate the gripping claw 9 for gripping a workpiece in the workpiece drive device for a cylindrical grinding machine. The bearing 5 is for slightly driving the gripping claw 9. About one tenth of rotation is sufficient for slightly driving the gripping claw 9. However, a trouble, in which the grinding powder in the grinding liquid is solidified and deposited to the bearing, arises.
