The temperature in this region is raised so that the workpiece material expands. Preferred Features: Local heating of the workpiece is carried out at a temperature at which a required local expansion of the workpiece occurs. The size of the locally heated workpiece region fits the position and type of the deformation. The workpiece is folded along a folding line (7) to form a flange.
