The pressure regulating valve (1) of an electrohydraulic control device of a motor vehicle's transmission is operated by an electromagnetic actuator (3) through a mechanical functional connection (2) in the form of a pushrod. The electromagnetic actuator is located inside or outside the electrohydraulic control device. The electromagnetic actuator may consist of a solenoid operated switch or a proportional solenoid valve. An independent claim is included for a use for a pressure regulating valve which is to control the transmission of a motor vehicle in an emergency mode.
