摘要

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To switch control mode automatically so that a vehicle travels not with the driving force of an engine but with that of a motor in a low speed traveling section.

SOLUTION: A navigation system is mounted on a hybrid vehicle and traveling data is sampled at a predetermined sampling period and stored when the vehicle travels actually. Traveling data thus acquired is analyzed and sections traveled at a predetermined vehicle speed Vlow or below are specified and extracted. Sections longer than a predetermined length L are specified among the extracted sections and stored as low speed traveling sections while being associated with road data. When the hybrid vehicle travels the low speed traveling section after it is specified, it is detected by the navigation system and an engine is not driven in the specified low speed traveling section but the vehicle is controlled to travel by driving a motor.
