<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of collecting ultrasonic data using multi-beam transmission. <P>SOLUTION: According to one embodiment, a method of transmitting two or more beams includes: a step of transmitting a first transmission beam 152 using a first subset element 156; and a step of transmitting a second transmission beam 154 using a second subset element 158. The first and second subset elements 158, 158 include at least one common element 104. The first and second beams 152 and 154 are simultaneously transmitted.
