PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress expansion of a beam spot diameter of an electron gun for a color cathode-ray tube in a high current region, and to realize high luminance/high resolution in applying the electron gun to a color cathode-ray tube. SOLUTION: This electron gun has a main electron lens, and first and second quadrupole lenses, and is so structured that a medium voltage Mv between an anode voltage Hv and a focus voltage Fs is applied to a third electrode G3 constituting a prefocus electron lens through an built-in resistor 23.
