PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fluorescent lamp wherein hermeticity is maintained, occurrence of cracks, breakages, and leakage are suppressed, and reducing of costs is realized, independently of short length in a tube axial direction of a projection part in a sealing part when the outer diameter is 15 mm or larger, and also to provide a manufacturing method therefor. SOLUTION: A primary sealing part 12 with a projection part 13 is formed, by pressing an end of a glass tube 1 from two opposite directions perpendicular to the pipe axial direction of the glass tube 1 and.
