PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To manufacture a toner which is uniform in particle shapes and sizes and is excellent in various characteristics as an electrostatic charge image developing toner without being accompanied by coarsening of toner particles due to adhering of the toner particles to each other and remaining of a monomer of an organic solvent and binder resin etc., exerting adverse influence on the electrostatic chargeability of the toner into the toner particles and without requiring vexatious operation, such as removal of an organic suspension stabilizer. SOLUTION: A melt kneaded material containing a synthetic resin and a colorant and a water dispersion prepared by dispersing a hardly water soluble and acid decomposable inorganic dispersant into water of 2 mg/liter or less in the amount of dissolved oxygen are mixed to generate the synthetic resin particles coated with the inorganic dispersant on the surface. In succession, the hardly water soluble alkaline earth metal salt is decomposed away from the surface of the synthetic resin particles by adjusting the pH of the water dispersion to acidity.
