PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for detecting a flaw in a coil, capable of detecting the position of the flaw arising in an insulating layer on the surface of the coil. SOLUTION: The insulation coated coil 4 and an electrode 5 are disposed in a vessel 1; the vessel 1 is gradually filled with a conductive solution 2, while applying voltage between the coil 4 and the electrode 5; and a level height value of the solution 2 is measured, when the resistance between the coil 4 and the electrode 5 varies. Then, the coil 4 is moved so as to be inclined to the solution level 2a, and a stator core 3 is rotated about an axis core C, and the variation of the resistance between the coil 4 and the electrode 5 is detected again. In the case the variation of the resistance between the coil 4 and the electrode 5 is found while the vessel 1 is filled with the solution 2, by detecting the level height value of the solution 2 at that time, the position of the flaw in the direction of the height of the coil 4 is obtained. Furthermore, by rotating the stator core 3 inclined to the solution level 2a, the coil 4 with the flaw can be specified among a plurality of coils 4. COPYRIGHT: (C)2005,JPO&NCIPI
