PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fibrous material having an excellent durability and biodegradability as an industrial material which can not be achieved by conventional technology, i.e. consisting of a polylactic acid fiber having biodegradability and a high strength, excellent in mechanical characteristics such as abrasion resistance, etc. SOLUTION: This fibrous material used as the industrial material consists of the polylactic acid fiber having 30-5,000 dtex fineness, 4.5-7.0 cN/dtex strength and 15-40 % elongation, and contains 0.1-5 wt. % fatty acid bisamide and/or an alkyl-substituted type fatty acid monoamide.
