PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus having no load applied to the apparatus and automatically setting an offset quantity of a base line and optimal PRF (Pulse Repetition Frequency) with superior time response in a simple processing. SOLUTION: A Doppler computing part of this ultrasonic diagnostic apparatus is provided with a line memory separately from a frame memory storing Doppler waveforms, determines a threshold of a signal strength on each time phase data of the Doppler waveform measured at the maximum PRF, binarizes the time phase data using the determined threshold and cumulatively writes them in the line memory. The cumulative one-dimensional data written in the line memory after processing the whole time-phase data reflect the substantial width of the Doppler waveform in the maximum PRF and the offset quantity of the base line and the optimal PRF are calculated by linearly projecting the one-dimensional data on display coordinates.
