INTEGRATED SEARCH HEAD

An integrated search head for counter surveillance equipment includes a plurality of transducers for detecting target objects such as metallic objects, metal-to-metal junctions, semiconductor junctions and devices actively emitting electromagnetic radiation. The head includes a first, radiating transducer for transmitting electromagnetic energy to enable detection of a target object comprising one or more of a metallic object, a metal-metal junction and a semiconductor junction; a second transducer for receiving electromagnetic radiation from a target object; and active or passive screening means for reducing or eliminating the detectability of said first transducer by the second transducer, or vice versa, when in use. The passive screening means can be embodied in the specific configuration of the transdacers and/or in absorptive materials located therebetween. The active screening means may be embodied in means for electrically blocking, reflecting, removing or negating signals resultant from sources within the search head.
