NANOFILTRATION OF DIPEPTIDES

Water soluble dipeptides represent an important source of amino acids in parenteral and enteral nutrition solutions. The invention describes a process for the separation of dipeptides from their amino acid building blocks using at least one nanofiltration membrane which has a molecular "cut-off' range of 100-1200 D. In a preferred embodiment a combination of two nanofiltration membranes is used. The method is able to separate dipeptides from amino acids which have isoelectric points which lie within a range of less than +/- 2 pH units from the isoelectric point of the dipeptide.
