PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an automatic shift control device for preventing low mileage in association with skip shift. SOLUTION: A shaft control means 9 determines for every gear stage of a transmission 3 a virtual engine speed after gear shift, the maximum engine torque and required minimum torque for maintaining a current operated condition and selects a target gear stage out of gear stages where the required torque is the maximum or lower. The shift control means 9 executes skip shift control for selecting the target gear stage out of the gear stages at least two steps higher than the current gear stage when a vehicle speed is constant or in an increased condition and determines whether the gear stage one step higher than the current gear stage can be selected or not as the target gear stage during executing the skip shift control when no gear stage selective as the target gear stage exists in the gear stages at least two steps higher than the current gear stage.
