PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an integrase inhibitor and an anti-retrovirus agent, containing a carbazole derivative or a salt thereof as an active ingredient.

SOLUTION: The integrase inhibitor and the anti-retrovirus agent contain the carbazole derivative represented by the general formula [wherein, R1is one or mors groups selected from a hydrogen atom, a halogen atom, a hydroxy group which may be protected, and an alkyl group and an alkoxy group each of which may be substituted; R2is a hydrogen atom, a lower alkyl group or an imino-protecting group; R3is a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group or a cycloalkyl group each of which may be substituted; R4and R5are the same or different and each a hydrogen atom or a lower alkyl group which may be substituted; and X is a lower alkylene group] or a salt thereof as an active ingredient, and are useful for treatment of retrovirus infectious disease.
