PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a charging method whereby a lead-acid battery can be properly charged even if it is left for a long period of time to cause self discharge, or the active materials of electrodes composing the lead-acid battery are deteriorated. SOLUTION: The actually measured discharged amount of the lead-acid battery 1 and the discharged amount estimated from the circuit voltage of the lead-acid battery 1 are memorized. If a momentary switch 106 is not manually pushed within a fixed time after charging, a value obtained by multiplying the measured discharge amount by 110% as a fixed factor (%) is charged. On the other hand, if the momentary switch 106 is pushed within the fixed time after charging, a value obtained by multiplying the discharged amount estimated from the circuit voltage of the lead-acid battery 1 by 110% as the fixed factor (%) is charged.
