PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fibrillated acrylic fiber produced from a stably spinnable fiber, enabling easy fibrillation and having excellent thermal stability and provide a method for producing the fibrillated acrylic fiber and a structure containing the fiber. SOLUTION: The fibrillated acrylic fiber is produced by beating a raw material fiber having a water-absorption rate of≥0.15 g/g and a water absorption of≥20 wt.% and produced by spinning a spinning dope composed of a polymer mixture comprising 95-99 wt.% acrylonitrile polymer containing≥80 wt.% acrylonitrile bonded in the polymer and 1-5 wt.% hydrophilic acrylonitrile resin containing 10-70 wt.% acrylonitrile bonded in the resin.
