PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a starting device of a motor having a high energy efficiency. SOLUTION: The starting device of the motor having a main winding 10 and an auxiliary winding 3 includes a positive temperature coefficient thermistor 4, a thermostat 5 connected in series with the positive temperature coefficient thermistor 4, and a heating element 6 connected in parallel with the positive temperature coefficient thermistor 4 and the thermostat 5 to give a thermal influence to the thermostat 5. A heat loss other than the thermostat 5 of the heating element 6 is reduced by surrounding at least a part of the outer peripheral surface of the heating element 6 with a heat insulation layer, and hence the power consumption of the starting device can be reduced.
