PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To receive an image of necessary resolution on the side of a receiver. SOLUTION: When a terminal 3 requests a server 1 to transmit a desired image, the server 1 transmits a section of the lowest resolution of an image which is divided into sections according to specified multiple resolutions and a list of resolutions of the sections of the image to the terminal 3 (S11). The terminal 3 displays the received section and the list of resolutions on a display (S13) and accepts designation of a desired resolution (S14).
