PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a camera module which has a small-size and light-weight constitution, allows focus control and variable operation and is capable of enhancing operability and enhancing strength, with regard to the camera module which is incorporated to portable terminal etc. SOLUTION: The camera module is provided with a substrate 41, on which an imaging element 42 of transforming an object image to electrical signals; a lens barrel holding member 48 which holds, movably in the optical axis direction; lens barrels 36, 37 provided with a photographing optical system of imaging the object image on the imaging element 42 and is fixed on the substrate 41; and a rotation operating member 31, which is rotatably fitted to the lens barrel holding member 48, has a mechanism of moving the lens barrels 36, 37 arranged therein in the optical axis direction by means of rotation and performs variable power and focusing. Strength is imparted, by increasing the thickness in the radial direction near the imaging element 42 of the rotation operating member 31 and the lens barrel holding member 48.
